Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third horror film in the Hatchet Series. It follows Victor Crowley's murderous rampage across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.



The practical effects in the film are the film's biggest strengths. Hatchet 3 is a horror movie that uses CG effects less than many others. Hatchet 3 has a number of makeup effects that are practical and sets that result in some truly terrifying scenes in the movie.

The cast gives a strong performance and Kane Hodder standing out as an incredibly intimidating villain. The dialogue is hilarious and tongue-in cheek that it can be like a classic 1980s horror film. There are also some really funny moments that provide a sense of humor against the horror-inducing action.

Unfortunately, because the budget is so limited (reportedly one million dollars) the majority of locations used that are featured in the movie are re-used locations from earlier films in the series. For instance, the same boathouse was used twice within the movie. Many of these locations seem like they were reused from previous films from this series. If you've watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this can sometimes make the movie feel familiar.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable although (blog) it was very similar in tone to previous entries in the series. It was filled with thrilling thrills and entertaining performances by its cast members.
